Pantanal: As Águas da
Vida
- produção conjunta entre Imagenes (Uruguai),
International Rivers Network (USA), REDES (Uruguai) e a Coalizão Rios
Vivos. Recebeu o prêmio de melhor documentário no Festival Latino-americano
de Vídeo de 1997, Argentina. Este vídeo foi amplamente distribuído
em vários países, tendo versões em Inglês, Espanhol e Português.
Monitoramentos e a discussão de propostas de intervenção
na rodovia BR-262,
trecho Campo Grande-Corumbá/MS, visando estimar a extensão dos
impactos causados
pela estrada sobre a fauna silvestre e apresentar as medidas e soluções
mais viáveis para a solução de problemas crônicos, crescentes e
cumulativos como a morte de animais atropelados por veiculos e os
efeitos decorrentes desta barreira representada pela rodovia e demais
estradas associadas (inclusive a Estrada Parque Pantanal Sul).
O trabalho foi responsável pelo levantamento de milhares de mortes de
animais silvestres ao longo dos últimos cinco anos, envolvendo mais
de 110 espécies da fauna nativa, estando muitas delas em franco
processo de extinção como lobo-guará, cachorro-vinagre, onça-pintada,
suçuarana, jaguatirica, gato-palheiro, cervo-do-pantanal, tamanduá-bandeira,
anta e entre outras.
O vídeo está em portugues, tem aprox. 9 min. de duração e relata o
histórico do projeto, conhecido como Estrada Viva: BR-262, desde seu
início em 1996, tendo sido patrocinado por diversas entidades como
Fundação O Boticário de Proteção a Natureza, MacArthur
Foundation, WWF, CNPq, GEIPOT/Min.Transportes, UFMS, ONG Estrada Viva,
entre outras.

Voices of the Pantanal The Story of the Hydrovia - the Brazilian Pantanal is one of the most
remarkable wetland areas in the world. In the mid-1990's, the
governments of the five countries of the La Plata Basin - Brazil,
Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, and Uruguay wanted to implement a
waterway, the Hydrovia, to expand large scale
navigation on the Paraguay and Paraná rivers and promote the
integration of the region. It was an ambitious project with
potentially irreversible effects on the Pantanal.
This documentary is a concert of Pantanal voices, woven with poetry
and striking images of the biological riches in the region.
Politicians, scientists, businessmen, farmers, and visitors share
their ideas and invite the public to reflect about the best
development alternatives for the Pantanal.
This
video documentary was produced by Conservation International in 1998,
we have 2 versions Portuguese and English, it still "very up to
date" and copies must be requested to our InterCom in Washington
DC.
